Being the Labour candidate for Southend East and Rochford opens up various opportunities for me to engage in diverse activities. Recently, I had the chance to visit The King Edmund School in Rochford and participate in a cookery class for local students. This session was arranged by the Jamie Oliver Group, which is dedicated to teach key culinary skills through their Ministry of Food programme.
Being in the kitchen with these young aspiring chefs was a real delight. Having worked extensively in the hospitality industry and as a youth mentor throughout my career, I understand the importance of equipping the next generation with essential skills. Healthy, nutritious cooking plays a significant role in that.
For me, ensuring our education system prepares young people for both work and life is a top priority. Locally, I’m committed to fostering a Southend economy that offers the necessary jobs and opportunities for our youth. Events like the one I participated in today are integral to achieving this goal.
I am deeply committed to the prosperity and well-being of Southend and Rochford. By investing in our youth and equipping them with valuable skills, we can pave the way for a thriving future. As your Labour candidate, I am dedicated to working alongside the community to foster economic growth, build a brighter future and provide opportunities for all.
